It’s a sad day for me and Babylon 5 fans alike. J. Michael Straczynski has announced that he will not be doing anymore Babylon 5 stories on television or direct to DVDs. At first glance it might be upsetting but after reading what he had to say, you have to respect him for his decision and in a way I agree with him.
JMS is 100% against doing another low budget DVD or TV movie and you seriously can’t blame him. Those of us who watched The Lost Tales are well aware that the low budget really screwed with how Babylon 5 looked and felt to the viewer. Even though he’s against doing more DVDs he’d be happy to work on a big budget feature film, but I don’t think that’s going to happen. Over at his site, JMSNews, he gave his thoughts on Babylon 5 and it’s future.
“B5 as a five year story stands beautifully on its own. If anything else is to be continued from that story, it should be something that adds to the legacy of B5, rather than subtracts from it,” say’s the great maker. “So I’ve let everyone up here know that I’m not interested in doing any more low-budget DVDs. I’m not interested in doing any low-budget cable things or small computer games. The only thing I would be interested in doing regarding Babylon 5 from this point on is a full-featured, big budget feature film.” Who among us wouldn’t love to see a Babylon 5 movie on the silver screen.
JMS goes on to say that he doesn’t want to do it anymore because everyone involved in the universe and the viewers all deserve more than what we got with the low budget tv movies and DVD. “At the end of the day, for me, it’s nto just a matter of getting more B5. It’s a matter of getting more *good* B5 that respects what came before it and doesn’t have to compromise visually or in terms of action.” JMS continues, “the original show deserves better than that, the surviving cast memebers deserve better that that, and the fans who have supported it over the years definitely deserve better that that. A lot better.”
As much as I want more Babylon 5 I really can’t complain with how he feels. JMS is right however, the series really does stand on its own and I can watch the series over and over again and it will never get old. Hopefully one day a feature film will get made but until then, I’m happy with what I have.

The first trailer for Terminator Salvation (still think it’s a stupid name) has hit the net. This trailer is also going to be in front of The Dark Knight this weekend. In the trailer we get a first look at Christian Bale as John Connor.
I really don’t have an opinion on the content in the teaser because not much is seen. As for the trailer itself… it sucked. It doesn’t get me excited, the cut was stupid… for a second I thought it was either Transformers or Cloverfield but it’s Terminator 4. I need to see more but I’m still not holding on to any hope for the movie. Below after the photo you can see the trailer.
